60 seconds with……….Jason Howells, Director International, Barracuda MSP

What’s currently having the greatest impact on your business?

With the current skills shortage, organisations are increasingly in need of IT security expertise and advice, especially around email security, given that it’s one of the biggest security threat vectors out there.

Where do you see the next big opportunity?

There’s potentially an opening for the role of Prime Minister if anyone fancies it?…

What would make your day job easier?

Adding a few extra hours into the day would definitely help! These days, we all strive to simplify, automate and consolidate to be as efficient as possible. My day job focuses on doing this for our customers, our MSP partners, so they can get a few hours back in their day.

What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given?

You have two ears and one mouth, use them proportionately.

If you had had a crystal ball, would you have done anything differently?

Not starting an MSSP business!

What was your first job?

I was an apprentice carpenter.

What would be your dream job?

Outside of that, a dream job would be something to do with motorsport, maybe testing the latest technology as there is definitely something amazing about pushing to the limits and beyond.

Fine dining and good wine, or curry and a pint?

How do you like to spend your spare time?

I have an amazing wife and two amazing children that surprise me every day on many levels, so spending time with them is a priority for me. Even though I have only been mountain biking for a few years now, I love it! It’s good for the body and the mind.

Money’s not an issue, what’s your perfect car… and where would you like to drive it?

This is probably the hardest of all of the questions for me. I am not sure if money was no object that I could only settle for one car to be honest! If I had to pick just one, it would be speed over luxury or practicality for sure. Somewhere where the authorities would not want to have a word with me for making the most of the

Favourite holiday destination?

Anywhere where there are mountains and snow! Don’t get me wrong, I can lie in the sun and enjoy it, just not for too long before I start to become annoying, apparently… My family and I also love to ski; we’ve had some amazing ski trips to Canada and America but it’s too hard to pick a favourite.
