60 seconds with… Pål M. Rødseth, CEO, Asolvi

What’s currently having the greatest impact on your business?

The pandemic has accelerated the digitisation trend among SMEs in general and also amongst the channel itself. This is now a ‘must-have’ to drive further efficiency and to support moves into complementary products and services. In most cases, this means that cloud/ SaaS solutions are vital. This fits well with Asolvi´s ambition of becoming the leading service and contract management solutions provider in Europe.

Where do you see the next big opportunity?

Asolvi is an acquisitive company and we are actively looking out for interesting companies to join the Asolvi family. Ensuring our solutions can support our clients in their evolution and adding useful and complementary solutions to our portfolio, as with our recent acquisition of MySalesDrive, will ensure we can continue to be a valuable partner on their journey towards offering full workplace technology solutions.

What would make your day job easier?

Right now – being able to travel to meet customers and colleagues in all the countries where we are active. Asolvi now has more than 120 employees all over Europe and I have not seen many of them since March last year. The pandemic has proven that we can get a lot done remotely, but I miss meeting colleagues and customers face to face.

What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given?

Work with great people – that is more important than what the company does.

If you had had a crystal ball, would you have done anything differently?

Hindsight is an accurate science. It is important to learn from past mistakes, but we need to allow mistakes to happen. And then move on. I prefer to look forward.

Describe your most embarrassing moment.

Too many to mention! Where should I start? Several of them have occurred whilst running through airports to catch a flight. They might be on camera somewhere, I guess?

What was your first job?

Cleaning used cars for my father’s car dealership

What would be your dream job?

Got it right now. But if Jürgen Klopp needs some good advice on the bench in the next Champions League final, he can always call.

Fine dining and good wine, or curry and a pint?

Fish and chips and a pint. And the chicken kiev at The Coach in Marlow.

How do you like to spend your spare time?

In the winter – on the ski slopes in Norway. In the summer – out sailing. Oh, I forgot the family! Love hanging out with them as well.

Favourite holiday destination?

I have never been to Cornwall and that is high on the list.

Money’s not an issue, what’s your perfect car… and where would you like to drive it?

James Bond's car 1965's Aston Martin DB5
BUDAPEST-APRIL 16: James Bond’s car 1965’s Aston Martin DB5 renovated by Aston Workshop on 4th Oldtimer Expo on April 16, 2010 in Budapest, Hungary

1965 Aston Martin DB5, the world’s most beautiful car. And driving on some winding coastal roads in Norway during long summer evenings.
