Brother UK has launched a pilot of a new print subscription service for small firms, PrintSmart Essential, following a record year for the company providing managed print services (MPS).
The solution will enable businesses to pay a small monthly fee for their supplies, device installation, supplies recycling and maintenance services, while benefitting from a three-month notice period.
The technology solutions provider says that this will provide resellers with a more accessible MPS offering for their customers, which requires no credit agreement and can be cancelled at any time.
PrintSmart Essential is available on a wide range of Brother inkjet and laser devices, including the MFC-L8690CDW colour laser printer and the MFC-J5945DW colour inkjet device.
Greig Millar, general manager for sales at Brother UK, said: “MPS represents a key area of growth for the print industry in general as more businesses recognise the benefits of greater simplicity, cost-effectiveness and productivity through having their devices managed.
“PrintSmart Essential meets the growing demand from smaller firms for non-committal subscription services that we know reseller partners in the market are looking for. Unlike the offerings from competitors, there is no credit agreement, no contract and no long-term financial commitment.
“This solution completes our MPS range, which spans from the complex, multi-service offering for large networked businesses, through to PrintSmart Essential, our new, low cost print subscription service.

The launch follows a record-breaking period for the business in overall MPS print volumes, delivering 78.1 million pages in the last three months of 2021 – it’s highest quarterly total.
This growth can be attributed to significant contract wins with UK retailers with large national networks, and a growing number of firms changing how they procure their print services as they shifted to hybrid working.
PrintSmart Essential packages range from £17 to £62 per month* depending on page allowance and the model of printer.
