Security by design
Canon Europe has launched six new A4 black and white imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices; iR ADV 525i, iR ADV 525iZ, iR ADV 615i, iR ADV 615iZ, iR ADV 715i, and iR ADV 715iZ. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE 525/615/715 II series will replace the existing 400i/500i models in the range, while offering a significant upgrade for users in terms of speed, productivity and security features. The new devices are equipped with all the benefits of the existing third generation portfolio, including the newest Unified Firmware Platform, uniFLOW Online Express and enhanced security.
Complete with a built-in ADF scanner, proximity card reader and a dedicated finisher model, the compact design means that the devices take up minimal space, without compromising on functionality. And the new models are up to 30 per cent faster with speeds reaching up to 71 ppm. Features include new all-in-one cartridge-based technology which makes the removal and replacement of toners fuss-free and the new machines are also equipped with an intuitive user interface and a colour touch screen for ease of use.
The built-in cloud platform reduces demand on IT resource thanks to the constantly evolving Unified Firmware Platform (UFP). The new devices also have a number of added and enhanced security functions. HDD encryption as standard and user authentication login at device protects confidentiality and strengthens security credentials, even when printing from mobile. To help prevent unauthorised distribution of sensitive information, various device functions can be disabled for individual users, helping meet GDPR requirements.
Toshiba raises the bar for performance and versatility
Toshiba TEC has launched its most comprehensive range of high performance colour and mono A3 MFPs to date. Efficient, secure, environmentally friendly and exceptionally versatile, the new models can be tailored to suit organisations’ individual print, scanning and document management needs.
Increased efficiency is central to the design of these devices. A fully customisable user interface enables departments to tailor settings and provide easy access to pre-defined workflows, drastically reducing the time taken to complete regular tasks (for example scanning and fling invoices). The Dual Sided Document Feeder (DSDF) also improves efficiency by scanning both sides of the paper simultaneously, resulting in an impressive speed of up to 240 images per minute.
Mobile printing is standard for all models in the range and the MFPs link directly to Microsoft Office 365, enabling print and management operations straight from the cloud. Other options for remote accessibility include Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive.
The new MFPs include vital features to support GDPR compliance activities, including optional card, PIN and biometric authentication, as well as PIN access facilities. In addition, Toshiba’s Secure Hard Disk Drive (HDD) provides robust security for all sensitive data on the HDD and is included as standard with the entire A3 MFP range.
Energy saving capabilities, such as a low-power Super Sleep mode and an Auto duplex facility ensure a lower total cost of ownership and limit environmental impact. In addition, all the devices comply with leading environmental programmes such as ENERGY STAR.
Colour models in the e-STUDIO2510AC series and the e-STUDIO5015AC series, and monochrome models in the e-STUDIO5018A series have printing speeds of up to 50 pages per minute. For users needing even faster printing, the monochrome e-STUDIO8518A series and the colour e-STUDIO7516AC series, will be released later in the year.
New Lexmark devices combine reliability, productivity and security
Lexmark’s new generation of A4 colour and large workgroup mono printers and MFPs, bring reliability, productivity and security to business users.
The A4 colour (CS421dn, CS521dn, CS622de, CX421adn, CX522ade, CX620 Series and CX625 Series) and large workgroup mono (MS725 Series, MS820 Series, MX720 Series and MX820 Series) devices are equipped with major feature enhancements that drive down total cost of ownership.
Durable steel frames, long life components and other design features ensure device longevity and stability for years of reliable performance while powerful multicore processors and increased memory levels deliver brainpower that future proofs these devices by accommodating firmware upgrades over time.
e-Task, Lexmark’s modern, tablet-like user interface, allows for unparalleled simplicity and ease of use across the entire portfolio, with displays up to 10 inches on the large workgroup monochrome devices. And Lexmark’s full spectrum security features help protect documents, devices and networks from unauthorised access and are fully integrated into every product in the series.
Next-generation production scanners
Canon’s next generation imageFORMULA DR-G2 series production scanners bring reliability, high quality and simple inter-operability into a partner’s information capture portfolio. The diverse devices are capable of meeting the needs of organisations digitising large volumes of documents, enabling partners to expand their customer base into busy corporate mailrooms, centralised departments, specialist scanning bureaus or business process outsourcing companies.
With the launch of the imageFORMULA DR-G2090, DR-G2110 and DR-G2140, Canon has announced a significant update to its production scanner technologies. The new devices combine high volume A3 scanning capabilities with enhanced efficiency, high image quality and optional LAN interface. These features enable partners to address the evolving business requirements of their customers who are increasingly looking for high quality document capture via shared devices without the need for additional hardware.
Alongside the new devices, Canon will be releasing a series of new software development tool-kits to support closer integration between its scanner technologies and customer applications and systems. These include a DR Web SDK for easy integration with web-based applications, a new DR- Scanner SDK for bespoke integration, and easy platform for capture application development, as well as new embedded SDK for Canon’s ScanFront 400 Network Scanner. The availability of software development kits (SDKs) means that partners are also able to customise their offering with bespoke applications designed to meet individual customer needs.
For businesses that share a single scanning device, Canon Europe is releasing the NA10 and WA10 Network Adapters that allow several of its USB scanners to be connected directly to the network. For customers that require transactional ad-hoc scanning, partners can now offer an effective solution for immediate processing at the point of customer engagement, without the need for a PC. The NA10 model comes with wired LAN connection interface while the WA10 model additionally offers a Wi-Fi interface.
Sharp expands A4 range
Sharp has expanded its line-up of A4 devices with the launch of four new mono models. The MX-B450W/MX-B350W MFPs and MX-B450P/MX-B350P printers offer speeds of up to 45 ppm and wireless connectivity as standard. With the Sharpdesk Mobile app, users can also scan documents to their mobile devices and print from them.
The devices are easy-to-use, with a 5-line CD control panel which provides clear and concise information, and the convenient front USB port for direct print from or scan to USB drive (the MX-B450W/MX-B350W MFPs feature full colour scanning). To keep things simple, users can also save their frequently used scan settings and destinations for easy, onetouch recall.
The new devices are compatible with Sharp’s Remote Device Manager, a tool for IT managers or administrators to centrally control networked MFPs and printers from their desktop and also offer a high level of security, with network encryption and user authentication options.
