Copytype, a managed print document solutions provider for both private and public sector organisations, has committed to making a monetary donation to the Burren Pine Project from Burrenbeo Trust for the sale of every Epson inkjet device
After 30 years in business, the Irish print specialist Copytype has now significantly shifted their print portfolio from laser printing to heat-free inkjet printing technology from Epson, which represents a 95% reduction in energy than laser and uses fewer consumables. In tribute to this sustainable shift in their print offering, Copytype wanted to expand their efforts to support the environment.
The Burren Pine Project aims to revive Ireland’s only native pine tree, Pinus sylvestris, which was thought to have died out in Ireland around 1500 year ago until it was discovered recently by scientists from Trinity College Dublin in a microrefugium presence at a remote site n the Burren. Those that purchase any Epson inkjet printer through Copytype will be helping to support the Burren Pine Project, at no added expense to them, and will receive a certificate of thanks from the Burrenbeo Trust.
Tony Carey, Product Services Manager at CopyType, said: “Over 70% of Ireland’s native species of flora are found in the Burren, making it not only symbolic of Ireland’s cultural heritage but a great benchmark of environmental conservation and the importance of protecting the planet. A part of our plan to become more sustainable is to reduce the energy consumption and consumables our customers go through, and the Burren Pine Project offered us a great opportunity to take this one step further and protect both the environment and a tree of national importance. Printing may not be the first thing that comes to mind when talking about environmental conservation, but all technology providers have a responsibility to adapt their business around the climate challenge and Epson’s inkjet is helping us to do just that.”
Áine Bird, Coordinator of the Burrenbeo Trust, said: “It’s been a pleasure working with Copytype. We appreciate their commitment to tie their success with their support for the restoration of the endangered Burren Pine and the education work of the Burrenbeo Trust. We also look forward to using their Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C5790 printer at our office, which has been designed to significantly reduce the carbon footprint in printing technology. We hope that, like Copytype, more and more businesses make the decision to put sustainability at the heart of their growth.”
