Tactus Group (“Tactus” or the “Group”), a leading UK consumer technology, gaming and computing company, has acquired online gaming and technology retailer Box, further bolstering its status as a global PC gaming specialist.
Tamworth-based Box is an online retailer of consumer technology and specialist devices, with a customer base across the UK and Europe. Founded in 1996 by Mark Jordan, the company has scaled rapidly to become a £100m turnover business in 2021 and has diversified its product range to meet growing market demand for specialist custom-built and pre-built gaming PCs, laptops, components and associated technology products.
Box boasts a skilled team of over 140 employees, taking the Group’s headcount to over 350 individuals. The business operates from a purpose built 120,000 sq ft logistics centre, significantly expanding the scale of Tactus’ supply chain and operations across the UK and beyond, while providing enhanced capacity to accommodate the Group’s future growth.
The $200+ billion gaming industry is now the largest and fastest-growing form of entertainment globally, with the gaming PC market rapidly expanding as more gamers – from casual players to e-sports professionals – immerse themselves in their own virtual communities. As a leading provider of own and third-party branded custom gaming PCs, component parts, equipment and accessories, Tactus is ideally positioned to benefit from these structural growth dynamics.
This is the latest acquisition from Tactus in the gaming and technology sector as it strengthens its position in the industry, and complements the Group’s portfolio of leading brands and companies.
Scott Brenchley, CEO of Tactus Group, said:
“Box is a strong addition to Tactus Group. With the global gaming space highly fragmented, it is important that we continue to invest in those brands that will fulfil our ambition of being the go-to destination for PC gamers and this acquisition takes us closer to that goal. Box provides the Group with significant operational capability and a broader customer base as we expand the reach of our own brand products in the UK and overseas. Tactus continues to scale at pace, via both earnings-enhancing acquisitions and through robust organic growth, and we remain focused on leveraging our unique position within the gaming value chain to seize the opportunities ahead.
“I look forward to working with Mark and his team as we integrate the business into the wider Group.”
Mark Jordan, Managing Director at Box, added:
“We have been growing our business through our high-quality product offering and loyal customer base since 1996. Joining Tactus Group, and its suite of leading technology brands and partners, is an exciting milestone in the Box journey. We look forward to adding to Tactus’ portfolio through our expert team, market knowledge and differentiated product offering.”
