Tech Data extends as-a-service offering

Tech Data has announced the availability of Cisco Easy Pay, zero per cent financing options through its tech-as-a-service platform. Tech-as-a-service enables partners to offer customers a package of hardware, software and services for a monthly fee. Partners can also offer their own services (or Tech Data service options) as part of the overall package. The launch of Cisco Easy Pay follows the recent extension of its subscription service in the Republic of Ireland

Cisco Easy Pay, which is backed by CF Corporate Finance (part of the Investec group of companies), Tech Data’s long-term finance partner for tech-as-a-service, gives Cisco partners the opportunity to offer their customers a simple way to fund the purchase of new equipment.

With Cisco Easy Pay, partners have the flexibility to provide funding for lower value requirements and can bundle software and services into the package, all covered by a single monthly payment – at zero interest – over one, two, or three years. Providing a quote and applying for the financing is made easy due to the streamlined tech-as-a-service process.

Significantly, providing the request for funding through tech-as-a-service meets pre-set criteria, proposals can be pre-approved in order to provide fast and efficient funding options.

Tony Nevill, Director, Cisco and Enterprise Networking, UK at Tech Data, said: “Having Cisco Easy Pay available through tech-as-a-service is a real breakthrough. It gives SMB partners a way to make use of Easy Pay for smaller customers and also makes it much easier to access and use the scheme.”

A pilot scheme of the Cisco Easy Pay option through tech-as-a-service has been running with a limited number of partners for the last six months, and several deals are already being written for Cisco equipment purchases funded by Easy Pay through tech-as-a-service.

“Previously, Cisco Easy Pay would only have really been an option for deals of around £300,000 or more – with tech-as-a-service the deal can be any size. It’s a major opportunity for SMB-focused partners as it’s really the first time that they have been able to put forward Easy Pay as a viable option for their customers,” Nevill added.

CF Corporate has underlined its commitment to the scheme by appointing a dedicated business development manager for Cisco Easy Pay through tech-as-a-service.

IAM as-a-service

The distie has also introduced an identity and access management as-a-service (IAMaaS) offering, enabling partners to offer a managed service to customers, removing the requirement for upfront capital expenditure, or waiting until they have developed their own capabilities.

IAMaaS is the latest addition to Tech Data’s RECON Security Suite services portfolio, which makes it easier for partners to improve their customers’ cybersecurity posture. This comprises managed and subscription-based services that partners can offer to their customers, with all aspects of technical delivery and on-going support provided by Tech Data’s security practice.

All the RECON Security Suite services have been developed around the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) framework. As well as identity and access management, services available include security consulting, SOCaaS, and backup and recovery. Tech Data is also working on further additions to RECON for launch in 2022.

Easy to sell, deploy and manage

The Tech Data IAMaaS service offering is designed to be easy to sell, deploy and manage. It makes use of tried and tested IAM services provided by select industry partners and offers protection in three key areas – access management, identity governance and administration, and privileged access management. Making use of Active Directory and Azure Active Directory as its foundation, it provides a set of practice frameworks and technologies for the establishment of secure access and to ensure privileged access and administrator activities are always secure, audited, and fully under control.

By providing these ready-to-deploy services, Tech Data is enabling partners to offer a wide range of managed security services without making upfront investments. This allows partners to take a low-risk approach as they build their own security practice and capabilities as an MSSP.
